Pepita Ofélia Bár hosted RQAC’s first fundraising concert event of the year when Kelly Zullo visited us on July 28th. We are super excited to have met Kelly and to have brought her music to Budapest’s queer community.
As both new and familiar faces shuffled in to the cozy basement space of Pepita, our new allies and friends left donations for soon-to-open feminist library/bookstore, community space KLIT. Then they got to share in a musical journey with Kelly, as she charmingly talked with the audience between songs about her personal songwriting experiences. Her riffs were exquisite and we at RQAC and our guests were all impressed. After the intimate concert event, out of 45 guests almost all stayed around for a drink (or two) to share in stories of activism and those other details of life that we somehow maintain time for.
Music is always a conduit for community building – at least for us. RQAC wants to extend big queer thanks for those who support our community-based endeavors to bring unique concerts and other events to Budapest. We also want to extend a huge welcome mat out to all you creative, radical, and queer artists making your way through this world: come join us in Budapest for a fundraiser event. The community here is warm and small. And we’re just getting started!
